About Me
My name is Arturo Villaseñor
I was born in Mexico City in 1965. For as long as I can remember, I have always loved drawing and creating art with clay. I attended public schools in Mexico City and graduated as a Civil Engineer from the National Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor's Degree in Physics and Mathematics.
I worked in the field of engineering for over a decade. Driven by a passion for restoration, I dedicated several years to preserving the architectural heritage of Mexico City. Among the most notable projects I participated in are the restoration of iconic buildings such as the Postal Palace, The Guarantees Building, The East Portico of the Palace of Fine Arts, The Postal Palace, and the Monument to the Mother. During this time, I had the privilege of working alongside esteemed restoration masters, painters, and skilled craftsmen, refining my expertise in the restoration of buildings with historical significance.
In 2000, I relocated to Oregon and embarked on a career in adult education and social work. Collaborating closely with the Mexican Consulate, I played a pivotal role in establishing the first "Plaza Comunitaria" in Washington County, providing educational resources and support to the Latino community. Additionally, I served as the coordinator of the Access Technology Program at Centro Cultural, empowering individuals through computer literacy and facilitating business training for Latino entrepreneurs.
Alongside my professional endeavors, I continuously nurtured my artistic pursuits. As a poet, professional painter, graphic designer, sculptor, translator, writer, and photographer, I expressed my creativity and enriched my understanding of different artistic disciplines. My artistic journey has been marked by a relentless dedication to sharpening my craft and exploring the diverse realms of artistic expression.
Through my work in both education and the arts, I remain deeply committed to fostering cultural enrichment, empowering individuals, and promoting community engagement. Through my work in both education and the arts, I strive to contribute to cultural enrichment, empower individuals, and encourage community engagement. I am grateful for the opportunities to lend my skills and passion to various nonprofit organizations in the Portland Metro area, including Adelante Mujeres and Centro Cultural of Washington County.
